We recently had a delightful time visiting Paris with my brother and his family. It was our first overseas family trip together and it was quite the adventure. On our last night in Paris, Patrick and I snuck off and had a romantic dinner just for two at a chic little restaurant, Frederic Simonin.

Beautifully appointed in black and white, the meal was not only delicious but also visually captivating — in particular our appetizer and dessert. It all began with this stunning vegetable salad for Patrick assembled on a matte black plate, while my fresh asparagus spears were covered in morel mushrooms.

After the simple, but beautifully prepared fish main courses, the spectacular desserts blew us away. Mine was wild little strawberries and Patrick’s was this “green egg” in a spun sugar shell, decorated with gold leaf and filled with delicious cream.

What a special ending for the perfect Parisian evening!
